The production!
That's right... if you're going to listen to nearly-tongue-in-cheek-crap-pop-bordering-on electronica... Damn does britney have a team of brilliant producers!
Then again... I'm a sucker for bit-crushing, filters, reversed samples, and vocoders. Especially when they all happen at the same time... for three minutes.
Dear Jive Records, I propose the following tag line,
"Learn to compress like the best, listen to Britney!"
For more britney spears fun...

I will admit that Britney Spears is the queen of catchy electronica music, and the behind the scenes audio is pretty impressive. If there was an award for most use of digital effects and filters in a song or entire album Britney would probably win.

Once production actually gets up too much, I'm usually not that big a fan. Maybe this is because of my love for the lo-fi sound though. And, I understand that higher production is actually required to get that sound to sound its best, oddly enough. But, there's just something about the way laying a tape recorder in a room with someone, and getting that crusty, hissy end-product that just tickles my fancy. This works with anything from Old Misfits (aka the ONLY Misfits--1977-1983) records, Descendents records from the 80s, up to the indie-folk sound of the first Iron & Wine album.
Call me crazy...go ahead...DO IT, JIM!!

Eh, Britney is over-produced. I'm personally not a fan.
I just had this conversation yesterday!
Yes, good producers... laughable songs! (a few are catchy). I have to say, the production on her last record was the jaw dropping one. That stuff was great! Songs were stupid as always.
In other words.. I agree
