Quick post while I'm back in detroit for a few days (back from nashville).
I know some people keep pets around their home studios. I wonder if they help the vibe. Do you keep pets around while you record?
Do they make noise and mess up takes from time to time?
I want answers!

I don't have pets myself, but a studio that I worked at all last summer had two small dogs who wandered in and out all day. While yes, their barking did often ruin takes (especially when the mailman would arrive), there were a few happy accidents that helped make an ordinary track extraordinary. One example was when we were recording an old metronome click sound to be used as a tense rhythm track. It just so happens that the loop we ended up using contains the slightest hint of dog collar rustle. We didn't even notice it a first, but wow...what a cool vibe!
Two Cats in my place. A small space in my house where I produce radio material and host a show. The occasional parody song.
It's a balance of added vibe mixed with patches of severe frustration.
On your lap whilst doing the mundane is nice. Hangin out working solo is comfortiing. But...
Cats can be demanding at the worst moment. Walking across the console, Laying down ON the laptop while your back is turned. (Activating funtions in windows through multiple keys are mashed down at once. Leaving me to reboot because my touchpad now works backwards.)
No Idea how that was possible but it happened.
Who owns who here?
